And I think that this attitude can still be maintained.

Whether your favorite is road, trail, track, tri or a combination of all of
those (I don't know...a "cyclist"?), it's not a bad thing to assume you'll
have to give a little more than you ever seem to get back.

Education rather than escalation? Be prepared look silly when you are the
only one who waves and smiles? Apology rather than accusation?  Take a
second to make sure someone with a map out knows the right way to go? It
comes down to whether you can do something to set the tone that's inviting
and helpful, rather than antagonistic and insular.

If someone sees a group consistently courteous and having one heckuva fun
time, the other not so much, they'll eventually figure it out.

It gets back to the issue that came up in the Grant's writing thread - those
things you can do to be a cyclist "forever".
