That is indeed interesting, since, even with the tops of my bars about 2" below saddle, I still "intuitively" feel like dropping into the hooks at the slightest headwind; the hooks just feel more powerful -- I expect most of this experience of more power is due to new muscle use, not lower wind resistance, since I experience this effect even with very light headwinds. Very personal, indeed;. Note that I use 42 cm Nitto 185s with very short reach and shallow drop, so that the difference between hoods and hooks is less than with, say, the 46 cm Noodles I tried and disliked. 57 and 58 cm frames with 8 cm extensions on the stems.
