The Rams pre-kitted at RBW came with a 48/36/26 Sugino triple. That's how mine is, and 48 works great for me with a 12 - 27 rear setup (also the original issue) To answer your question, yes a 46 compact (110 bcd) will work. See deatiled tables at Harris Cyclery for chain wheels.
