If opening up wide is important I have had good luck with the CX70s. On the CX70s the pads are offset from the brake arm by a centimetre or two, allowing normal "road" pads to clear the fork/seatstay. This is not the case on Tektro CR720s. On my two Riv bikes, the same brake pads didn't clear the fork with CR720s but do with CX70s.
