A while back I had one of these on my 58 cm Atlantis with 700 x 45 Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires. Clearance with the tire was minimal but sufficient. There was interference with some of my panniers mounting hooks but others had clearance. That's the only limitation I know of to mounting this on a larger frame. IIRC correctly, Riv says up to 54 or so but that's conservative, and narrower tires would give more clearance.
The difference between this one and the Rivendell version is the triangle gussets at the corners where the vertical struts meet the platform on the Riv version. Personally, I think this is a cleaner design, and the gussets are over-kill.
