The most power for the money (aka value) is the iMac. I'd suggest picking 
whatever specs work best fore and if ordering from Apple getting the RAM 
upgraded to the max.

However, another consideration, and one for me that is primary given my 
visual issues (nystagmus from the vertigo) is the retina display. That iMac 
is pricy, though I'm not sure how it compares with the MacBook Pros with 
retina. I don't need a large screen and I write in Scrivener, so power is 
not my primary concern. The retina display makes a huge difference for me 
when looking at the screen for more than a few moments. With it, I can 
write for hours. Without it, I last about 15 minutes (though that was 
before my current MBP, which is 18 mo. old).
