I have thought about it. I would absolutely love to do one. I've looked and
dreamed a lot but in the end, I'm too chicken. I'm finally trained enough that
I think I could do the distances, but I have this idea that they are doing them
much faster than I could manage. The training tips state that one month before
the tour you should be riding "at the front of a fast group 30+ miles per
week", and they describe a fast group as 20mph+. I haven't been able to do that
for a few years. Maybe if I were at my goal weight. Lon's Route 66 tour (I'm
not sure if he does it every year) looks like a really cool ride. If I did PAC
Tour I would do it on the Roadeo, since the rides are so well supported I
wouldn't need my brevet bag or anything. I guess I look more at Adventure Cycle
as a more realistic possibility, but sometimes I'd like to do more daily
mileage than they do. Or I could just get leaner and faster. That doesn't
necessarily fit in with Just Ride philosophy but I always have a desire to be
fitter and faster anyway. PAC Tour is definitely a dream that I am holding onto.
