Hi Brian,

I'm also about to try the exact same thing, as soon as my order from Riv 
reaches me. Sounds like I'm in a similar situation to yours, with the cable 
holder of my V-brakes scraping against the top of the fenders. The brakes 
still work but the feel at the levers is yucky. 

Anyway, there's some discussion in this thread

a photo of Bill's Bombadil set up as he described above. For me, other than 
the amount of threads available for the rack strut, the considerations are 
the tilt of the front rack and the fact that I will have to re-drill the 
fender to move the point where it attaches to the front rack forward a 
centimetre or two. I'll report how it goes.
