Now this is a very helpful observation, one that I should long ago have made on my own. Thanks! Because (I think!) I can also use Allen head bolts on my Surley hollow axle, which will make wheel removal with Berthoud fender much easier!!
The placement of the chainstay bridge makes removing the wheel with a 35 mm tire (32 mm actual width) a bit of a chore.
