Nice build! As you can tell from my KOM <http://s1060.photobucket.com/user/Tim_Gavin/library/KOM>, I'm a fan of the Schwinn MTBs from that era. I really like the "black chrome" on the '89 Impact; I keep an eye out for cheapies on craigslist.
How long is the top tube on your Impact? My KOM is the largest size in that model, with a 56 cm / 22 inch seat tube (c-to-c), and a level 61 cm / 24 inch top tube.
