The San Marcos would compare in temperament, but at that size it's 650b.
Which can be a good thing, but may not be what you want.

I bought a 51 cm San Marcos for my girlfriend, and she loves it. It's a
lighter steel bike, but still totally capable of touring (for a light
rider).

The Homer is probably a little bit stouter than the Romulus, and is 650b in
your frame size range.

The Roadeo is closest current Riv to your Rom (700c, lighter tubing).

The Soma Stanyan may be an option? 700c, lugs, roughly the same tubeset as
the San Marcos.
