Love your pics.  My dad was born and spent his early years right next door
in San Bernadino.  It's an area I enjoy visiting.

That being said, I wouldn't shy away from evening riding.  I find that I
like to force myself out of my comfort zone, and the more I do so, the more
comfortable I am in the extreme heat.  Sun sleeves would also work really
well in your very dry climate.

This year for us in Texas, it's more the humidity than the heat though,
some days don't even get out of the 80s but the air is so thick you could
cut it with a knife.   My sun sleeves are useless with this humidity, they
make me hotter than I would be otherwise.
