Patrick, I think the saying is The Bees' Knees' Fleas, if you please. :) Just don't think about it too much, or it progressively makes less and less sense.
I've never tried a wool jersey like that, but often ride in a thin merino ss shirt I got at Riv. Assuming it's similar, I've found it very versatile as a single layer in high heat to moderately cool temps.
