I love purple for bikes, and while the photo is of my Bridgestone as opposed to a Rivendell, the photo shows the type of purple that I like:

My '91 MB-4 (originally red) has a Ritchey frame but it had no Ritchey Logic fork when bought new. I beat up the paint with a lot of riding from 1991 through 1996. When I got the Ritchey Logic fork for it in 1996, I had the repaint done to be like the MB-3 of 1991; hence the deep purple. Since the only difference between those stock framesets was that MB-3 had Ritchey Logic fork, while MB-4 did not, I sometimes wonder if I could have gotten away with a new "MB-3" decal for my repainted bike, giving it a promotion. I decided to keep it" MB-4" for nostalgia purposes. It's still my best steep-climbing bike, and quite often still gets called My Favorite.

The paint job was by CycleArt.
