Yesterday afternoon, I posted a club email for my usual Sunday afternoon
relaxer ride. I arrived in RBW seersucker riding shirt and Zoic Black Market
MTB shorts, Addidas Sambas shoes, and wool base layers. I was on a Mustache
bar, bar end shifter, 7 speed freewheel old Japanese steel bike. The only other
rider to show was our local "legend." In his early 60s, a former champion racer
who still has the goods. He was on a custom Roark Ti race bike, but it didn't
seem to matter. The old style set up on my bike worked just fine. While the
ride was above the pace I would normally do, my equipment, despite it's
outdated technology, was never the limiting factor. I had a blast as we went
down some back rural roads that were new to me, and thought that a one on one
ride with Lance might be something like this. I'm wondering if I should fish
the Looks out of the parts box and try 'em on one of the bikes.....
