yeah, apples an oranges.  I wouldn't think of doing that on a "group"
ride unless everybody was out doing the same thing.  that's a great
idea you have for a ride though - i'm sure there are lots of serious
cyclist/photogs who would enjoy a group ride of that sort.  no
pressure to move along, a chance to compare equipment, etc.  i'd love
to be a part of something like that just to learn more about
photography.

well, that depends on who "you" are, and who "they" are ;)

c'mon, there's in an between!  stopping for a minute to take a few
snaps of some scenery and friends is a far cry from blindly pointing
and shooting, or stopping for 10 minutes to take the perfect shot.
further, some of my favorite photos have been taken from the saddle
with a point and shoot camera.

In any event, the OP's photos are great!  evidence of a great day out
on bike!  and I'm pretty sure he didn't break out the tripod and put
on the kettle in order to get 'em ;)
