I've had pretty good luck with a few Smartwool items I bought on sale at Sierra Trading Post (long sleeve under $50). Get on their email list and watch for good deals (particularly when they offer a discount and free shipping). Otherwise, their prices are pretty average. I think I also bought a few from the REI Outlet (now called REI Garage). I'd buy Icebreaker too if they went on as deep discount as Smartwool.
