I have cracked a honjo fender at the brake bridge and now am a strong believer in the leather washers. I fiberglassed the fender together and reinstalled with both a leather washer and a small metal reinfocement on the inside. So far so good. I will admit that I ride a lot rougher roads than the ones in your picture. Michael Westford, Vt
