Erl, I don't have callipers to measure the tire width, but holding up a tape measure it looks a little over 40mm - although I'm not sure the picture I took shows that very convincingly. I also took another photo of the clearance with fender and tire and the crown, which seemed plenty to me. I put one up of the rear chainstay too. It isn't a great pic, but there's enough space side to side that I'm not really worried about it.
