Oh yes, go wide. My 60cm Sam just got noodled with 48cm in a dirt drop stem, and I went from unsure to big fan on the first 2-hr ride. The wide one fits interrupter levers with adequate hand room. I don't notice any "splayed" sensation, whereas I feel cramped on my vintage bike's skinny bar.
