Yes, Crane was early Shimano, not SunTour.  The contemporary SunTour
offering was the VGT, and it was MUCH better than the Crane GS.  Given
the improvement in the Shimano derailleurs since the big redesign in the
mid 80s, I can't imagine why you'd want to use a Crane GS today on a
modern cassette.  It'd be a lot like using an Allvit, I'd think.
