I had a large wald basket on my gen 1 Fargo, but I added and customized the struts. It ended up being being very sturdy. I used double opposing struts underneath for triangulation, and the rear upper rail had struts down to the upper bottle mounts on the rear of the fork. A double diving board bracket went from the fork crown bolt to beneath the rack and fender.
