When I purchase a new bike or frame, I'm obsessively Felixian. I strive for perfection in the build and often use helicopter tape on sections of tubing most likely to get scratched. After a month or so, I remain mechanically obsessive but aesthetically indifferent. I don't like scratches and dings, but they are inevitable. Before I had Rivs, I did not use kickstands, which meant my bikes were more often leaned against pillars and posts and fell over with reasonable regularity. I now have a dedicated utility bike in my Appaloosa and will have another when the 64cm Clem L arrives (different locations), so I am really trying to silence my inner Felix.
