It's shown on a ruler held parallel to the seat post, measuring from the center of the bottom bracket (crank bolt) to somewhere above. I believe Rivendell measures to the top of the seat tube. But if you posted a picture I'd bet many here could make a good guess of it by eye. -Kai BK NY
