I would not say that the frame in general has a short reach, for it's stated size of 55.5, it has a longer than average effective top tube length of 66cm, which is not remotely short for me. I would normally ride a 60cm frame where the top tube could be in the 57 - 61cm range, with drop bars. This version of the Rosco appears to be meant for upright/swept-back handlebars, such as the choco bars that I built it with, or albatross bars and the like. This Rosco is comfy for me, as-built, where the handgrip portion of the choco bars are behind the stem insertion point, as a semi-upright riding position - though I do like holding on to the forward, leather-wrapped portion of the bar if I want to tuck in a bit and grind out some speedy miles.
