You could try Magnafluxing. Most auto machine shops can do it. They apply a magnetic particle dye and then put a magnetic field around the part. The magnetic dye will migrate to the crack if there is one (a blacklight may be involved). Standard test for finding cracks in engine parts during a rebuild. It is a type of non-destructive testing as suggested before. You can even buy a kit and do it yourself, not cheap, but less than the cost of a new Riv.
