Dear Lum, I assume you are thinking of converting a bike from 700c to 650b. I’ve converted two bikes: a riv road and Romulus. I ride Fatty Rumpkins 650bx41 on the Romulus. Handling feels more stable and the wider tires make for a more comfortable ride. In terms of safety, I compensated for lower bottom bracket height by changing my crank arm length from 170 to 165. I liked the feel of 165 so much I changed to that crank length on my Cheviot too. Finally don’t forget you will likely need to switch brakes if your bike uses center/side pulls.
