Please allow me to introduce myself: I'm Raymond in Raleigh I'm a real human with a wife & child. We live in a house that's constantly being tinkered on and is thereby covered in dust and tools. My wife is very cool, obviously. I have a sincere affinity for black coffee and morning rides that we like to refer to as 'dawn patrol.'
I've never written a ride report, maybe this is what they are: Sunday morning we convened at the corner of Crabtree Creek, a greenway trail & Raleigh Blvd. It was 73ยบ with high humidity. The road surfaces were finally dry 36 hours after a week's long rain. To say it was glorious may be an understatement. Slim Jim had gotten to the rendezvous first on his vintage Trek, the man of few words was sitting in the dawn shadow of a mulberry tree. With a nod and a couple of clicks we were off. Thankfully, the parks department had cleared the trail of the silt that had been deposited and the ride was quick and deliberate. After about a solid hour coasted off the path onto the soft dirt & grass at Old Milburnie Dam. >From the dam we rode back south, and west with shortening shadows to the bakery on South Street for some bialy and coffee. I picked up a loaf of bread and crammed the oversized loaf into my Swift handlebar bag - and off we went to our respective days. I cant wait to do it again, but I must. <https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-cMCW6rdjwKc/W2hAf5ZjwII/AAAAAAAAAtg/D4Sq74VOjzwoXb1f9IGESuqVIJLljFPMwCLcBGAs/s1600/dawnpatrol05Aug18.jpeg> Thanks for reading this far ... I ride a Protovelo from RBW in Walnut Creek back in September 2009. As I understood it, it's a Sam prototype and an incredible ride. I enjoy it thoroughly. However, I am looking for a second bike, one with more roadie geometry - a used Rodeo or Roadini may be right up my alley. Cheers y'all.
