Super idea! I remember the article - made sense to me. The smaller gauge der. cable is strong enough, but has none of the built-in 'bow' (caused by stiffness of the thicker cable), so there's no slack to take up when initiating braking. Looking fwd to trying this out and comparing. Thanks!
