I had a 2013ish 51 Sage Sam sidepull. I was able to run both Fatty Rumpkin Stouts and the earlier version of the Compass Babyshoe Pass EL with SKS P50 fenders. Not a lot of room with the fenders, but passable especially after I installed Sheldon’s Fender Nuts and switched to Paul Racer Centerpulls. Both tires measured about 40-41 actual width on Synergy rims. With the fenders it would easily fit Bruce Gordon Rock n Roads set up tubeless on Pacenti PL23 rims. Those tires ended up being about 45mm wide according to my cheap digital calipers.
