I do totally agree it's a good thing for Rivendell to be out in the bike
world a bit, very specifically in the bike world of the creators, the
thinkers, the artists, the testers, the believers, their people. And
others get to see what Rivendell is up to as well. I tend to believe
people need to be talking rather than hoping their island can hang on. I
have also found that the smartest I can be is in a room full of smart
people, all trying to figure things out...

Not that is has anything to do with anything, but I went to the NAHBS when
it was in Denver and I talked to this "kid" (anyone under 29 qualifying)
and he had been making frames for friends in the UK. There he was in
England, but he read about the NAHBS show, and well, he decided he was to
going to make the best frame and bike he knew how, and he was going to that
show. And he did! And his bike was really well done and thought out. And
it was so cool he had done that. I am pretty sure he rode that bike to the
show from wherever he was staying in Denver, wiping it down before putting
it up on the table with, I think, a borrowed stand. He did not have cab
fare or whatever but he did have his bike. So cool... Still makes me
smile.

And it turns out he is still out there making bikes! Shed6 Cycles, as he
originally rented a storage shed to start building, and it was #6...
https://www.shed6cycles.com

So, yeah, meeting people like that just has to help and make one smile,
anyone loving bikes, riding, adventures, all of that anyway.

Having Rivendell, Crust, Tumbleweed, Jones people and others all walk into
the bar, well, that would be something...
