Assuming you have a Gmail account, why not write a quick Google review for him? If people Google the business to get address or hours, your review and a star rating will show up, which is great marketing. Businesses with only one or two reviews can really benefit from a five star review, and Google is more visible than things like Yelp. As to the thumbs up, he may have been asking for a "like" on Facebook, but I'm just guessing there.
