It's a bit fiddly/tricky, but you can use a Tektro (or Cane Creek) lever by 
simply removing the lever from the body & swapping them side to side. Getting 
the lever out is simple enough; simply (gently) drive the pin out with a simple 
punch. Swap the levers in the bodies and reinstall the pins. The tricky part is 
getting the return spring over the screw head that holds it. First time will 
have you cussing, but once you've mastered it, no problem. 
With the lever swapped in the bodies the end of the lever points down in a very 
comfortable position rather than up & the cable routing exits on the underside 
of the bar.
