Like others, I have two bicycles which run the 7700-series bar ends with mountain derailleurs, so they are compatible. To work through the other possibilities: -Are you sure you have the 9 speed bar-end shifters? Shimano also has an 8 spd version, and 8 speed cog spacing is different than 9 spd. -Are you sure you have a 9 speed cassette? -Probably highly unlikely, but is there any chance your cassette is a Campagnolo cassette? Campagnolo also uses a different cog spacing. -Are the shift cable and housing in good shape?
