Adam, 
Oven cleaner!  Interesting.  I've seen various references about soaking in 
various highly caustic liquids, bead or sand blasting, polishing by hand or 
wheel, etc..  I'm hoping for a ready-made solution.  That's a great 
fall-back plan though.
