Second vote for the KAVA. I also have a couple pair of elastic waist Prana. They're OK, but the elastic isn't very strong so if you have heavy things in your pockets . . .
I don't think they are similar to the MUSA, but my favorite riding shorts right now are actually made by Dockers!!!??? I got mine over a year ago, so I don't know if they still make them, but they are the Smart 360 Flex Chino Short. I had seen these and was curious about them, but they were $59. A pair. A bit much for shorts to me. Then they had them for 25% off @ Macy's so I got a pair! Well, they fit great! They are stretchy so you can & should buy them a little snugger than normal, but they don't bind. Stretchy waistband as well, but with belt loops so you can wear a belt! I like them so much I bought another couple pair on sale and then I noticed Macy's would frequently have them on their "last Call" racks, so I bought another 4 or 5 pair for 20ish bucks a pair. I gave a pair to my riding buddy and he likes'em as well. My son also likes them. My one & only complaint is there's a small zippered pocket on the right side and the zipper ALWAYS breaks, generally the first time you try to use it. Not a big deal except forever after that your hand just wants to naturally go in that pocket & without a zipper it's basically worthless, too small & stuff doesn't want to stay in there. Last thing I like about these is they come in Camouflage; 2 different Camo's!!!!!
