I love the tire clearance on my Hilsen. I had to take the fenders off my Hilsen to deal with some hardware issues and decided to throw on the Schwalbe 700x40s from my commuter bike. I was inspired by Grant's recent post and this PDF he threw up:
http://www.rivbike.com/assets/payloads/290/original_My_bike.pdf Something about this looks so right. I met up with some friends doing a fleche and rode with them for the first 15 miles or so. Climbing up to Skyline the tires felt a bit sluggish. On the way home I dropped into Forest Park and did about 7 or 8 miles of fire roads. While they were sluggish on the road they were perfect for the dirt. I'll be putting the Jack Browns on next week for my last two brevets but once I'm done with those perhaps I'll put the Marathons back on. It's nice to have a bike designed for tires between 32 and 40. I sure wish Panaracer would do a 700x40 T-serve. A 700x40 Kojak would be nice too. Here's a picture of my Hilsen with the Marathons: http://www.flickr.com/photos/41335...@n00/4526693063/ Oh, and it was a glorious day here in Portland. It was actually warm. I think this was probably the warmest day of the year so far. --mike -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group.
