If you do buy a Pletscher, test whether it can hold your back back by filling it with a representative amount of old books and go out for a ride. I recall from the '70s it can take a bunch of bungee to hold a significant load onto a Pletscher. If it can't handle them, get something else before trusting your computer to a rack.
Can you stand to use a laptop messenger bag, instead? Your back is likely to be more secure.
