Talking of calipers...with these types of conversions the measuring kind 
are your BFF. You don't need to spend a lot of money but being able to 
accurately measure spacings and widths makes all this a lot easier and math 
is cheaper than buying parts that don't fit. Digitals are best as you can 
switch between metric & old school with the press of a button. The set I 
use are these, all of $24 worth, probably not as accurate as they could be 
but we're building bikes here not centrifuges -
