The 55 Platy is a big (LONG) bike (wheelbase 47.25 if I recall), so if she's on the cusp, go smaller. I'm an 83 pbh, 5'7" and it fits me fine. Leah is a touch shorter in pbh and height and it's OK for her. My other bike is a 54.5 AHH to help give you size info. I fit it, but barely. Any shorter,, go smaller.
I rode the 55 chev years ago and choose not to purchase. I know it's been years, but I like the ride of the Platy more. It seems lighter to me (in weight and responsiveness) and I like it better. However, because of the rain and work, I've only been on a few rides, 20 miles total. I hope it stops raining!
