I've also been planning on riding up to Cold Spring or Beacon and visiting the museum there then camping at Clarence Fahnestock State Park this summer. I'm in Brooklyn and would love to meet up with anyone interested in an overnight bike camping trip north of the city. Lately I've been riding north of the city into Westchester on the South County Trailway "Old Putnam Line". Basically up the West Side Bike Path..past G.W. bridge..north into Riverside park..keep going north into The Bronx, through Van Courtland Park,...then you're in Westchester...This is a super fun ride too..but still very urban. I've also heard about Blue Mountain..just north of the city in Peekskill, NY. I think it's more geared towards mountain biking, but I've heard there are some nice packed earth trails there..suitable for a bike with 40mm tires or so...and it's not far from the Metro North. JS
