I should have been more clear. I already have the set (seat & bar) of Brand V bags from a year ago. Never had a problem with the hook and loop coming undone and it has quickly become my go-to bag that rarely gets dismounted. It is a really industrial "velcro" with very stout mil-spec webbing and gets grippier as it breaks-in, at least in my experience. The redesign of the bar bag looks like a big improvement over the older velcro version which takes a little niggling to get right.
Bill, did you contact RIvendell about your issue with your bag? I am pretty certain they would have worked with you on a replacement. In my experience they stand behind their products, especially when they don't work as advertised. A fastener that doesn't fasten would not be up to their standards.
