Good article; I was struck by the rule, warm up from *10 to 20 miles*!! No
wonder that, despite feeling lousy, I go so slowly! 15 or even 10 years ago
(I'm 55 and getting Sr Cit discounts) I could ride through the pain and,
eventually, feel good, but nowadays, I can't. I must pay attention to this;
at least, if I suffer, I want the "average speed" reading to be higher!
(Even the few racers I've ridden with have told me, "Slow down!" when we
start out.)

Patrick Moore, who did a 15.3 mph (I blush) 19.5 miler today (but he was
carrying a load, up steep hills, against headwinds, on a 69" fixed gear,
with a hangover, brake pads dragging, chain dry, tires underinflated,
bearings too tight, blah blah blah) and who wonders, if it takes 20 miles to
warm up .....?????!!!!!
