I spent a year of my life flying back and forth to Taichung 30 years ago - back when business class meant your seat had a footrest. I got to know all the good lunch spots. The Maxway factory is so much cleaner, brighter and better organized than any I visited. They have come a long way. One of the things that made an impression was seeing all the old machinery that had been discarded in the US and shipped there as scrap, only to be re-habbed, re-purposed and used again in some very inventive ways. Nothing is wasted there.
