Correct, the D-ring bolt attaches to a “rinko nut”, allowing the back half of 
the fender to be disconnected. Typically this is done on the rear fender to 
facilitate disassembly and packaging for rinko bikes. The front half can remain 
installed on the bike.  I persuaded Brian to do the same on the front fender, 
to make transporting the bike in or on a car easier. I failed to make it clear 
I wanted both fenders done, so he had to cut the rear fender after I picked up 
the bike.

Grand Bois Chouette. They are indeed lovely, and paired with the Campy brake 
levers have a feel that I really like. The Campy levers have a fair amount of 
mechanical advantage, so there is a lot of modulation available but it’s a nice 
linear feel.
