I will pay *$500 cash - no questions asked *for the return of the bike. Note to others: *Write down your serial numbers!*
I set up national search alerts for Craigslist, have a friend that has a FaceBook account do the same for marketplace. I have some photos waiting to pick up from being printed and plan on making some reward signs to canvas local area bike shops. At this point, though I would like the guilty party to receive justice, but just want the bike back. Fingers crossed, hoping that eventually at least the frame shows up somewhere. Unfortunately, I do not have an official record of the serial number. I registered it way-back 15 years ago when Rivendell had it's online owner registration, but I would imagine that information is long lost. Going back through any and all correspondence from it's 3-time repainting I was hoping I would be able to find something, maybe a photo of the BB. Hopefully, I can name *so many* of the unique features of the frame/fork that I have had modified clearly identify it as mine. I will not disclose what all of those modifications are publicly and I can almost guarantee that the thief will be unaware. My name and phone number are written on the steer tube, something I do before assembling any of my bikes. I do have some concern that the culprit knew what they were looking for. It was parked in my garage between my Appaloosa and a Platypus both with regular flat pedals. Several other bicycles were also easily accessible. The large size, had low air in tires, and Time ATAC pedals that would have made the Atlantis the most difficult bike to ride away on. I have since relocated all of the bikes from the convenience of the garage to inside the house. The only fortunate thing I could come up with over the weekend is that I did not have plans to ride it on RAGBRAI this year. I spent most of the weekend sulking in the garage preparing my HubbuHubbuH for a 10 day loaded tour with my wife. I'm trying to keep focused on that positive. Thank you all for your support. - Ken On Sunday, July 13, 2025 at 9:11:10 AM UTC-5 Pete P wrote: > I'd love to be out riding my Atlantis hoping to see that beautiful bike of > yours. > The humidity finally below 60 dew point and no rain but the air quality > from AirNow.gov says UNHEALTHY it's in the RED zone at 170 !! > > > On Sunday, July 13, 2025 at 8:45:45 AM UTC-5 Pete P wrote: > >> I see you had posted it on Bike Index before I posted here yesterday. >> Great, it's all that we can do.
