Yesterday, I got my new pedals! They are terrific (fit my feet just right, just the right amount of grip, etc.)...They're on my purple Platypus and, since I couldn't settle on a pin color, I got them all, ha!

Thanks, Johnny! I figured it would be better to keep going rather than wait on the side of the road. I was closing in on my 3,000 miles for the year and needed the miles. I figured out how to maneuver so I could keep rolling. This is one time being clipped would have been helpful! You can’t make a full revolution without involving the opposite foot on flat pedals. Paid for it later. Just got back from a massage and the therapist found the hot spots! I was impressed because I didn’t even tell her.

Its kind of the one simple part you never really think will fail on you. I am in awe of your skill to persevere with just one working pedal. Nice to hear the company is taking care of you

It’s the first thing they did, Doug. I was so hopeful! Hopefully the replacements work.

I wish I was going with the pedals to Hawaii!! Leah, I had the same thing happen to a One Up pedal and had to open it up to grease it. I found very little grease in mine. So, maybe have your LBS add grease to the pedals as a precautionary measure? Nothing worse that a mechanical issue many miles into a ride.

That was fast! The pedals are going to live in Hawaii. Sorry to the rest of you who emailed me. I wish I had more to send out! Well, the next pair might fail, so…

Charlie was being SO embarrassing. I was hosting a club ride on my turf (rare) and I wanted everything to be perfect. I have the most beautiful route in all of southwest Michigan, and I had even ridden it the day before to make sure it would be perfect. It was. And then towards the end of the ride, Charlie began to squeak. The next day, I went howling to the bike shop, and they fixed Charlie up. I took him on a club ride that evening.

And then Charlie got REALLY embarrassing.

I was at Mile 12 of a 27 mile route when I heard it. What started out as a squeak in the pedal because a bird call, became a chorus of birds, became a full-on siren. The pedal got tight and I could not rotate it. That story is in the IG post, if you’re dying to know it.

Anyway, OneUp is replacing the pedals for me and they don’t want the old ones back. One is still perfectly good. The other is not rotating. If you love the look of these pedals, and you are a mechanic and you long for a piece of Leah Peterson Whimsy for your Rivendell, you may have this pair of OneUp pedals for the price of shipping. I will attach a video of them in the next clip.

It seems a waste to toss them.

First one to my inbox gets the pedals.
