I run the waxed Randi Jo cover and ride it nearly every day as a commuter. 
I don’t ever bother taking it off. It’s held up for maybe 1.5-2 years now 
and is still waterproof. I have a covered spot at work, but it’s seen 
plenty of rain on errand rides and the like. Just got rained on maybe a 
week ago when I went out for drinks with a friend, no issues. Love it
