RH says that latex sealant does not work in their TPU tubes. It works for me in RH extralight road tires, tho’ whether it works as well as in the lightest butyl tubes is still being decided. But after a thousand miles or so ridden on goathead infested pavement and ditchbank roads, I’m inclined to say, “Yes.”
In fact, I can say “Yes” unequivocally, at least insofar as I’ve been riding EL RH tires (Elk Pass, Naches Pass, Stampede Pass) amongst the goatheads, without any problem except as described below; if what described is in fact a problem. Note: The EP, NP, and SP extralight are tires that, ridden with butyl tubes and without sealant *would get fast-leak goathead punctures every 2 miles or so.* That is to say: these tires would go flat and require me to stop and patch, were it not for Orange Seal regular formula. The punctures would not be slow leaks that let you make it back to your garage. My only cause for a wee bit of hesitation is that within a couple of hundred miles, I’ve gotten 3 goathead punctures in the *rear* Elk Pass on the road fixed gofast, with RH tubes and OS reg. All sealed by pumping and riding, but this is more often than I’d experienced before with the extralight butyl tubes. OTOH, this is rear only, and the reason may be simply that this rear RH Elk Pass is wearing out; it was an old front and I’ve not checked the mileage. But generally, I’ve had the same protection against flats with OS reg in RH TPU tubes as I’ve had with OS reg in the lightest-weight butyl tubes I could find. This translates into: OS reg works as well, qualifications as described, in RH TPU tubes inside RH extralght tires at pressures from 30 to 60 psi*, as OS Endurance does in 48 mm+ extralight tubeless tires at 17 to 20. * Elk Pass, 175 grams, 27 1/2 mm actual on 19 mm OW rims, 55/60 psi f/r. El Naches Pass, 300 grams, 41.5 mm wide on 21 mm OW rims, 30 to 40 psi depending on f/r and load. El Stampede Pass, ?? grams, 31 1/2 mm wide on A23 rims, ~50 psi.
