| Ben, interesting. When I built my Gus I bought a Cliffhanger wheelset (dynamo) that included the Honcho’s. They do fill the clearance nicely & set up tubeless the ride is sublime. But they are sluggish feeling until they get rolling. Seemingly unrelated, I decided to resurrect my 2001 Trek 26” MTB with its mint MUSA aluminum frame. I converted it to a rigid single speed & installed Simworks Homage 1.95” tires, mint green of course! To my surprise it is now a 22lb. ripper! The 32 x 16 gear is perfect for my local trails. It’s a “just right” gear for the flats & low enough for the mild hills. This got me very curious. So, I converted the Gus to a 2 x 1 drivetrain. 38 x 20 with a 22 x 20 bailout. I dropped 2.5 lbs. It is really fun. So I am trying the smaller 2.22 tires hoping they will feel a bit more lively but nervous they will not ride as good or be grippy enough. I will have to wait to find out as we just got a foot of snow.:) BTW, the new tires are kind of dwarfed by the Honcho’s. The biggest difference is not the width but rather the height. This baffles me. I think the difference is at least 3/4”! A couple o Sent from my iPhone On Jan 26, 2026, at 4:33 PM, Ben R <[email protected]> wrote:
